A peek at the mighty Pacific coast is a treat in all seasons. Drive
along Westside Road that hugs the Russian River as it meanders past
assorted wineries and vineyards. Be sure to stop at the Armstrong Redwoods State
Park for a hike or horse ride through the awesome redwoods.
Wander through the historical towns of
Guerneville and Duncans Mills to the ocean.
Lunch in Jenner at the mouth of the Russian River, or drive
south, taking in the vistas of the rugged Sonoma County coastline.
Hike the wonderful trails along the coast or picnic on a
driftwood-filled beach. Or save your appetite for fresh clam chowder
at one of the fun restaurants in Bodega Bay.
Whale watching at the appropriate seasons is a favorite pastime at
Bodega Head, just west of the Bay. We’ll loan you binoculars, and
the docents on the Head will give you instructions on sighting and
understanding these magnificent creatures.
Complete the “loop”, by driving back through the hills of West
County through the apple-growing region of Sebastopol or the quaint
village of Occidental.
