Featured Projects

Gilbert Regional Park

Gilbert, AZ 2019

Phase 1A of Gilbert Regional Park covered 47 acres, located between Higley Road and the East Maricopa Floodway, just south of Queen Creek Road. Haydon took on full site development, starting with critical underground infrastructure — water, sewer, storm drain, irrigation, and electrical systems. Above ground, the work included a mountain playground, splash pad, tot play area, restroom building, ramadas, shade structures, pedestrian bridge, entry monuments, and extensive turf areas and trails. Offsite improvements and an ASR well were also part of the package, ensuring the park was built for both function and future growth.

Phase 1A is just the beginning for Gilbert Regional Park. Future phases will bring even more amenities, including an eight-acre urban fishing lake, event lawn, amphitheater, courts for tennis, sand volleyball, and pickleball, a 300-space parking lot, roadway connection to Higley Road, and additional landscape features. With the groundwork in place, the park is positioned to continue growing into a major community destination.

Mansel Carter Oasis Park

Queen Creek, AZ 2024

Spanning 52 acres, Mansel Carter Oasis Park is anchored by a six-acre fishing lake and lighted baseball and multi-purpose fields, making it a prime destination for sports and outdoor activities. The first phase of the park includes a plaza with decorative concrete, a peninsula next to the lake for gatherings, lighted basketball and sand volleyball courts, a splash pad, playground areas, pathways with fitness pods, a skatepark, restrooms, concessions buildings, a maintenance yard, and landscaping. The park connects seamlessly with the Town’s public pathway system, serving walkers, bikers, and equestrians from the adjacent wash and surrounding residential areas.

Phase 2 added 14 acres of new amenities, including volleyball and pickleball courts, tennis courts with a plaza, a BMX track, trails, and open turf areas designed to support an active lifestyle. To accommodate the growing number of visitors, parking facilities were expanded, solidifying the park as a vibrant hub for the community. With its wide range of facilities, Mansel Carter Oasis Park has become a go-to destination for recreation and events.

Avondale Festival Fields Park Expansion

Avondale, AZ 2019

The Festival Fields Park expansion added 30 acres to one of Avondale’s major regional parks. Haydon handled both the expansion and renovation of the existing site, delivering a full range of recreational amenities. The scope included a fishing lake, splash pad, skate park, play courts, ball fields, and multi-use fields, along with a restroom and concessions building, picnic areas, dog park, and custom play structures.

Supporting the park’s growth, Haydon also completed significant roadway improvements and utility installations to serve the expanded footprint. The result is a well-rounded community space designed for sports, family outings, and outdoor recreation.

Bell Bank Park

Legacy Sports USA 2022

Bell Bank Park, formerly known as Legacy Sports Complex, is a 320-acre sports and entertainment destination in Mesa, Arizona. Haydon handled all the sitework, underground utilities, and landscaping for this fast-tracked project, delivering it in just 15 months. The scope covered major infrastructure to support one of the largest multi-sport complexes in the country.

The outdoor facilities include 35 soccer, lacrosse, and football fields, 8 baseball and softball fields, 20 basketball courts, 41 pickleball courts, and 12 beach volleyball courts. Haydon also completed extensive underground work for water, sewer, storm drain, and electrical systems to support the entire complex. Designed as a hub for tournaments, community events, and family recreation, the park has become a year-round destination for athletes and fans alike.

Margaret T. Hance Park Revitalization

Phoenix, AZ 2021

Phase 1 of the Hance Park Revitalization kicked off a major transformation of the 32-acre urban park in Downtown Phoenix. Built directly over the I-10 Deck Park Tunnel, the project included the new Fiesta Bowl PLAY area, complete with custom interactive play features, a water plaza, climbing wall, sculpted metal and fabric shade structures, and a resilient fall surface. Haydon also delivered extensive landscape and hardscape improvements throughout the park.

As part of the revitalization, a new garden element was added, featuring a shade canopy, seating (including seat walls, benches, and swings), and low-height plants filling in under the canopy. The garden oasis highlights 33 native desert plants, chosen for their low water usage and ability to thrive in the harsh Phoenix heat. With future phases on the horizon, the revitalization will continue to activate Hance Park with new public spaces, gardens, an amphitheater, and expanded day-to-night programming.

Last Saturday night was a spectacular grand opening for our residents of the Avondale community with the opening of Festival Fields. Over 3,500 attended the event highlighted by a fantastic fireworks display. Even though the weather attempted to impact the scheduled opening, we were fortunate to experience a very nice day and evening to show off the City’s investment. And your team was able to coordinate the care and attention for full function of this special event. Reflecting back to the Groundbreaking Ceremony earlier this year on January 9, and being able to celebrate this accomplishment in just 10 months is quite remarkable. Thank you to the Haydon team for making this happen. The team that you provided us to manage and build this project performed remarkably well. I truly believe your team cares as much about our community as I do based on their involvement and attention to details. This investment that was supported by our council and taxpayers will provided countless benefits for decades to come. My sincere appreciation to the Haydon team.
