Transportation & Infrastructure

Haydon has earned a reputation for excellence in transportation infrastructure. We’ve delivered roadways, bridges, transit systems, and airport facilities that improve connectivity and serve as critical links in regional mobility networks.

Featured Projects

Gordon Wash – Colcord Bridge Replacement

Payson, AZ 2021

This project replaced an aging 80-year-old single-span bridge with a new 51-foot structure using Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) methods. The existing bridge was fully demolished, followed by 2,000 square yards of roadway approach grading and paving. The new bridge span was installed within a 168-hour full closure — and completed ahead of schedule.

Temporary traffic signals managed one-way detour access during construction, and the team earned a $50,000 incentive for reopening the bridge and roadway after just 151 hours. The project improved safety and reliability for the local community, while demonstrating the efficiency and precision of ABC techniques.

Canyon Springs Boulevard Roadway Improvements

Buckeye, AZ 2023

This roadway and bridge project included construction of a three-span concrete girder bridge over the Central Arizona Project (CAP) Canal, designed by ADOT. The work required close coordination with CAP and ADOT to successfully place 33 girders and pour 1,300 cubic yards of bridge deck concrete.

Scope also included a 250-foot equipment pass box culvert, 2,000 LF of 16-inch ductile iron waterline (including 385 feet suspended under the bridge), 11,000 SY of asphalt paving, and 12 retaining walls. The project was delivered to high regulatory standards and strengthened a key transportation route in Buckeye.

SR-303L & El Mirage Road Traffic Interchange

Phoenix, AZ 2016

This two-mile stretch of new infrastructure added a full diamond traffic interchange at SR-303L and El Mirage Road, improving regional mobility and safety. Work included large-scale excavation, embankment construction, grading, and pavement in multiple types — from asphaltic base layers to Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) and an asphaltic rubber friction course.

As a critical access point for future development in the West Valley, the interchange was built to ADOT standards with long-term durability in mind. Construction required precise grading and material coordination across a complex footprint.

US-60 & SR-303 Interim Traffic Interchange

Apache Junction, AZ 2016

This project delivered key interim improvements to the interchange at US-60 and SR-303, with over 17,000 cubic yards of roadway excavation and more than 27,000 square feet of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement. Work included grading, embankment, 2,100 tons of asphalt, asphaltic rubber friction course, and 13,400 square feet of retaining walls.

The improvements enhance traffic operations and safety while accommodating future expansion. Careful coordination was required to tie into existing infrastructure and manage traffic through the active corridor.

Drinkwater Bridge & Civic Space Plaza Improvements

Scottsdale, AZ 2019

Originally built in the 1980s, Drinkwater Bridge showed signs of structural damage caused by decades of water intrusion. This repair project included new abutment walls, box beam girders, topping slab and column repairs, and a new waterproofing membrane to prevent future deterioration. The project also included upgrades to the surrounding civic plaza, including hardscape improvements. Work was completed in a high-traffic civic area, requiring shoring and careful sequencing to keep the public space safe and accessible throughout construction.
